Infrastructure
Brookfield invests globally in long-life, infrastructure assets that generate stable and growing cash flows with high barriers to entry and low maintenance capital requirements.

Infrastructure is recognized as an important asset class critical to the support of sustainable economic development. Institutional investors are increasingly attracted to this sector because of its relatively low volatility and solid returns.

Brookfield has over 100 years of experience owning and operating infrastructure assets. Our portfolio under management includes direct and indirect ownership interests in utilities, transport and energy, and timberlands in North and South America, Europe and Australasia.

Utilities
Utilities transmit and distribute essential products and services such as electricity, natural gas and water to communities on a global basis. Brookfield has owned and operated utilities for over 100 years in both North and South America. Today, our portfolio of utilities includes electricity transmission networks and one of the world’s largest coal export terminals. As an investment, utilities represent a unique asset class. Due to their natural monopoly status, utilities are highly regulated and produce stable cash flows with inflationary growth. Brookfield’s portfolio also benefits from diversity across regulatory regimes with significant opportunities to invest in system expansions at attractive returns.

Transport & Energy
Transportation infrastructure, such as ports, rail networks, toll roads, tunnels, bridges and airports, represent an increasingly important infrastructure sector in demand by institutional investors, for the ability to generate attractive returns with upside potential from increased economic activity.

Brookfield’s portfolio of transportation infrastructure under management is diversified geographically and includes key rail networks in Australia as well as ports and related logistics businesses in the UK, Europe and China and natural gas transmission, distribution and storage services in North America, Australasia and Europe.

Timberlands
Brookfield is one of the largest global timberland managers with over 2.6 million acres and $4.0 billion of timberland assets under management. Our strategy is to acquire quality timberland assets and actively manage them to achieve strong risk-adjusted total returns over the long term. We have owned and operated timberlands for over three decades, in North and South America.

Brookfield focuses on investments in regions with well-established wood-consuming economies, well-capitalized domestic converting customers and/or good economic access to export markets, low currency risk and a strongly embedded concept of private property rights.
