In South America, Brookfield is proud to be building on a 100 year history as an owner and operator of real assets. Our roots date back to the 1890s, when we started the first tramway in Sao Paulo. Our portfolio now extends to leading residential real estate development and hydroelectric power generation platforms in Brazil, electrical transmission networks and toll roads in Chile, along with holdings in timber and agrilands. We have launched funds dedicated to building infrastructure in Peru and Colombia.
Our approach to investing in South America is consistent with our strategy around the world. We invest in a portfolio of high quality property, renewable power, infrastructure and private equity assets and strive to create superior long term returns by increasing operating cash flow over an extended period of time.
