Brookfield Asset Management Announces Appointment of Thomas Keller to Head Infrastructure Group in Latin America

TORONTO, ONTARIO, September 24, 2008 -Brookfield Asset Management today announced the appointment of Thomas Keller as Managing Partner of Brookfield’s Latin American infrastructure operations. Mr. Keller was most recently the head of Cencosud’s supermarket division and previously, the Chief Executive Officer of Compañía Minera Doña Inès de Collahuasi, one of the world’s largest copper mines. Mr. Keller will be based in Santiago, Chile.

While at Collahuasi, he was a key member of the senior management team that constructed, financed and later expanded this multi-billion dollar business. This included the construction of infrastructure for the project, such as roads, pipelines and port facilities. His experience and relationships will be invaluable to us as we look to grow our business and in optimizing value through improving operating performance.”
