Forest City Realty Trust was a publicly traded diversified U.S. REIT that Brookfield privatized in 2018. At acquisition, the portfolio comprised 6.6 million sf of high-quality office space, 2.3 million sf of dynamic life science assets, ~22,000 multifamily units, and 4 million sf of retail space.  

This investment gave us the opportunity to acquire extremely high-quality assets at attractive pricing, develop urban mixed-use property in gateway markets at scale, and execute operational business plans across the portfolio. We have developed 305 single-family homes and an industrial building onsite at our Denver project, progressed leasing at recently opened multifamily properties, and sold the life science business.
