Step 1: Assess Business Quality

The first step of any private equity investment is identifying great businesses to invest in. This paper outlines the six specific attributes that Brookfield uses to assess the business quality of a particular company and the questions we ask when analyzing whether that business is one we might want to own.

Step 2: Acquire for Value

Investing for value can be challenging when targeting high-quality companies, especially when competition is high and purchase prices are at a premium. Our second paper explains our approach to finding value investments in any market environment, including capitalizing on complex or contrarian solutions and bringing more than just capital to a situation.
