Aman
Vice President, Real EstateWhy did you choose Brookfield? Brookfield’s reputation. The firm and its senior management are well respected in the industry. I also like the idea of building a long-term career in one of the largest, yet understated, real estate owner/operators in the world.
What has surprised you the most about the firm? How unusually flat and highly collegial the organization is. Everybody, including senior management (even the CEO!), work side by side in an open-plan office that encourages communication regardless of level or title.
What makes Brookfield unique? Brookfield is a quintessential premier workplace, where responsibilities are given based on initiatives and capabilities, and what you do truly matters more than the title on your name card.
What do you find most remarkable? The people. Despite being one of the largest alternative asset managers globally, everything is the opposite of arrogance. Junior members in the team are encouraged to voice their opinion in team meetings and present to investment committees in front of senior management.
What part of your work has been most rewarding? Being part of the core deal team to underwrite and close the acquisition of IFC Seoul, a world-class commercial office, retail and hotel complex in South Korea. This is Brookfield’s first investment in Korea and was one of the largest real estate transactions in Asia in 2016.
