In 2019, we acquired Genesee & Wyoming (G&W), a leading short haul operator with a network of over 14,000 miles of track across North America, the U.K. and continental Europe. G&W operates 115 railroads worldwide, organized in locally managed operating regions with 7,300 employees serving over 3,000 customers. The North American rail business is highly resilient with significant business segment diversification across 14 major commodity groups.
